Fizz Fusion Drinks: Where Dreams and ‘Tasty Add-Ins’ Blend Together
It’s a local enterprise – but one with a taste of California – that finds its way into our business spotlight series this month. Fizz Fusion Drinks, owned by Francesca Ciula, has been building a faithful customer base and catching the eye of passers-by along U.S. Route 460 in Windsor since it commenced operations from a pink trailer in August 2024.
“Fizz Fusion Drinks is a fun dirty-soda shop where we take your favorite sodas and mix them up with tasty add-ins like syrups, creams and other flavors to create something totally new,” Ciula says. “We’ve also got coffee, lattes, chai, matcha – a little something for everyone! I’ve done a lot of traveling and lived in a bunch of different places, especially out on the West Coast, where shops like this are super popular. I always thought it would be amazing to bring that same kind of vibe and creativity to my own community. It’s been such a fun and wild ride so far, and I’ve loved seeing the community embrace something a little different and a lot of fun.”
A Leap of Faith
Ciula describes Fizz Fusion as a dream come true and one that offers lessons for anyone thinking of starting his or her own business.
“If I had waited until I felt ready, I probably would have never taken the plunge. You learn as you go, solve problems as they come up, and that’s what makes it all fun. There will be challenges, but the support you’ll get from the community makes it all worth it. Being part of this community has made all the difference for us. To be honest, I was so nervous to open up – it felt like such a big step, and I wasn’t sure what to expect. But the support we’ve received has been incredible. I’ve had so many customers tell me, ‘Keep going, you’re doing great!’ or ‘We love what you’re doing here!’ Those words have meant so much to me and have truly kept me motivated.”
The love that Ciula is feeling makes her all the more pleased to reciprocate with area organizations.
“We’re all about giving back and supporting the community that has supported us,” she says. “We’ve partnered with local charities and organizations to help raise funds and awareness through events and fundraisers. Whether it’s a community service event, a charity drive, or collaborating with other small businesses for special events, we’re always looking for ways to give back. One of the things we love most is seeing our customers and community come together for these initiatives. One of my proudest moments was our very first community fundraiser with Coastal Point Gymnastics Parents Association. I was still so new and nervous about getting Fizz Fusion off the ground, but I was honestly blown away by the support. It showed me just how powerful a small business can be in bringing people together.”
Villains, Sharks … and a Lot of Heart
Ciula’s goals include expanding her customer base and opening more locations. At the same time, she is determined to sustain the qualities and experiences that are making Fizz Fusion popular.
“We believe in creating an environment where everyone feels appreciated and valued. For our employees, it’s all about creating a positive, supportive workplace where they feel empowered to do their best. One of the biggest things that guides me is the belief that people can feel the love you put into what you do. That’s why every single drink at Fizz Fusion is made with care, a smile, and a whole lot of heart. We’ve got some fan favorites like Vanilla Villain, Shark Attack, Orange Creamsicle and Caramel Latte that you definitely don’t want to miss. Whether you’re in the mood for something creamy, fruity or a little more adventurous, these drinks are always a hit.”
