At electric cooperatives across the country, that same spirit of service lives on in a different — but deeply familiar — form: the life of a lineworker.

Though their uniforms may differ, electric utility linemen and military veterans walk similar paths in many ways. Both stand ready to serve, often in dangerous conditions. Both are trained to respond quickly in times of crisis. And both understand the true meaning of teamwork, sacrifice, and purpose.

Like military service members, lineworkers undergo rigorous training to safely perform complex and critical tasks. Whether restoring power after a storm or maintaining high-voltage infrastructure, linemen rely on precision, focus, and mental toughness — qualities honed in military service.
