Community Electric Cooperative added two new team members to its work force in September.
Amy Lacey joined CEC as an Administrative Assistant in the Human Resources Department right after Labor Day. She brings with her considerable experience in a human resources role, having previously worked at Hiller Systems Inc. in Chesapeake and at the law office of Kelly M. Barnhart in Norfolk.
“I’m really excited about all the opportunities they offer here – the continuing education and the training, for example. And they do so much to give back to the community, like the Meals on Wheels initiative,” she said.
Lacey looks forward especially to the “open enrollment” period because it will give her the opportunity to meet and assist all of CEC’s employees with decisions on benefits the cooperative offers.
A native of Windsor, Lacey received a bachelor’s degree from Old Dominion University and earned her master’s degree in business administration from Columbia Southern University.
In mid-September, Kasey Butler joined Community Electric as a Payroll Specialist. She too has ample experience in her field, including payroll, tax auditing and administrative experience. She previously worked at Georgie D. Tyler Middle School and with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Taxation.
Butler is a graduate of Lakeland High School and earned an associate’s degree from Radford University in southwestern Virginia.
“I’ve always heard such good things about the cooperative and the good it does in the community, so when I saw the opening advertised, I decided to apply,” Butler said. “I like to help people in any way that I can. This field is undergoing a lot of changes. I’d like to help with the transition, and if there are any issues, get them fixed as quickly and painlessly as possible. I’m excited to grow with the company and, as changes come about, play a part in that and help to make the cooperative better.”
CEC President and CEO Steven A. Harmon asked the cooperative’s member-owners to join him in welcoming Lacey and Butler.
