Ready Bag Packing Party (Virtual)

The cooperatives are teaming up to support the Roc Solid Foundation, a Chesapeake-based nonprofit organization founded in 2009 to build hope for every child and family fighting pediatric cancer.

The Foundation:

  • Partners with children’s hospitals across the United States to distribute Ready Bags containing essential items when children are diagnosed with cancer
  • Builds playsets for families fighting pediatric cancer

“Pack the Bag” Team Competition

Approximately 16,000 children are diagnosed with cancer in the United States annually. We want to thank all of our families and businesses that helped to support this project and dropped off items to go into the Ready Bags from December 1 through December 15. Help Us Pack the Bag! December 1st through 15th. Community Electric Cooperative and Prince George Electric Cooperative are collecting toiletries from December 1st through 15th to pack "Ready Bags" for Roc Solid foundation. What are Ready Bags? Ready Bags include everything that a family might need for their unexpected hospital stay. All member donations can be delivered to your cooperative headquarters. Ready bag items to collect: travel size shampoo, travel size conditioner, travel size body wash, travel size lotion, travel size Q tips, deodorant (unused), digital thermometer, travel size toothpaste, 2 toothbrushes, travel size mouthwash, hairbrush, hair ties, chapstick. Monetary donations: The bag equals $45, tablet case equals $15, shipping supplies equals $10, postage equals $15 which totals $85 per bag. Note: items should be travel sized (if noted), unused/unopened and gender-neutral colors with no graphics/logos.
