Hosted by Community Electric Cooperative, this immersive experience introduces students to the world of electric linework, utility operations, safety, teamwork, and leadership through hands-on demonstrations and real-world interaction with the professionals who power our communities every day.
What Is Day in the Life of a Lineman?
Day in the Life of a Lineman is an educational workforce development event designed to expose students to careers within the electric cooperative and utility industry.
Throughout the day, students will:
- Meet working linemen and utility professionals
- Observe live demonstrations
- Learn about electrical safety
- Explore utility equipment and vehicles
- Gain insight into the responsibilities of electric lineworkers
- Learn how cooperatives respond during outages and severe weather
- Discover career pathways within the utility industry
Students will experience the teamwork, discipline, communication, and technical skill required to safely serve communities 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Live Demonstrations
Students will observe real-world demonstrations performed by Community Electric crews and utility professionals.
Demonstrations may include:
- Pole climbing
- Bucket truck operations
- Transformer and line equipment education
- Outage restoration practices
- Safety procedures and protective equipment
- Equipment operation and tool usage
These demonstrations are designed to give students an authentic look into the daily responsibilities of lineworkers and utility crews.
Safety First

Students will learn:
