Twenty eight students from eight different schools participate in the Feb. 24 event, one of the three major pillars of CEC’s Youth Program.

COMMSERV, Community Posted: February 27, 2026 at 1:50 p.m. CEC’s ‘Wonderful Men’ Help Nearby Co-op Restore Power after Winter Storm Hernando’s combination of powerful winds and heavy, wet snow causes extensive tree damage within ANEC’s service territory on Virginia’s Eastern Shore and the southeastern tip of Maryland. As the temperature dips, the storm switches to snow from rain on a Sunday afternoon, and CEC’s contingent of Linemen is on the ground at ANEC by midday Monday.
Community Posted: January 29, 2026 at 3:57 p.m. Meet Willow Haven Advocacy Group: Assisting Abuse Survivors in Rural Virginia In late 2025, Siblings Lyle Poppe and Erin Harvey established the Willow Haven Advocacy Group, a local organization whose mission is “(t)o foster the empowerment of rural survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and related trauma through safe and inclusive shelter, compassionate support, and community engagement.”
Posted: January 26, 2026 at 8:26 p.m. Community Community Angels Spread Love (and Dollars) Over the Holidays During this past holiday season, contributors to Community Electric Cooperative’s Angel Tree fundraiser blessed 28 CEC families with a total of $7,742 applied directly to their electric bills. CEC sponsored the charitable initiative to assist member-owners facing hardships ranging from a woman battling breast cancer, to a family grieving the loss of a child while raising a grandchild, to a spouse coping with the passing of her husband, and more.

The Angel Tree initiative raised $7,742, which was applied directly as bill credits to 28 families.
