Debbie Joyner: A Pillar of Dedication and Service at Community Electric Cooperative

Joyner takes particular pride in assisting members who are less than happy when she sees or speaks with them. She feels it is important to make sure their questions and concerns are addressed so that – even if they are not completely happy at the end of the interaction – they are calmer and have shifted, in her words, “to a somewhat happy place.”

Bringing Curiosity and Passion to Life: Youth Leadership Conference Includes Three Students from CEC’s Service Area

Nearly fifty students attended the conference held at a lodge in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. The Virginia Institute on Cooperative Education (VICE) conference, held annually, educates high school juniors and seniors about cooperatives and the co-op form of business through interactive instruction activities. Students gain teamwork, leadership and communication skills, with top performers having the opportunity to receive up to $2,000 in educational scholarships.
