Record Turnout for ‘Day in the Life’

A record high number of students take part in this year’s Day in the Life of a Lineman education session at Community Electric Cooperative’s headquarters. Twenty eight students from eight different schools participate in the Feb. 24 event, one of the three major pillars of CEC’s Youth Program.

Community Electric Cooperative Announces 2024 Youth Scholarship Program Winners

Community Electric Cooperative is proud to announce the three recipients of our 2024 Youth Scholarship Program. After careful consideration, we are thrilled to award the scholarship to Will Partin from Stonebridge School in Suffolk, Jailyn Snipe from Lakeland High School in Suffolk, and Ava Joyner from Suffolk Christian School in Windsor. These outstanding students were selected for their commitment to our community, academic excellence, and enthusiasm for participating in our Youth Program.

Windsor Native Joins CEC as Apprentice Lineman

A Windsor native and a member of Windsor High School’s Class of 2024, Barry was hired after completing Southside Virginia’s Power Line Worker training program. The three-month program provides classroom and hands-on training in electrical theory, safety, climbing techniques, rigging, operating service equipment and more.
